THE AMENTA is ugly, dissonant, electronically-lacerated Death Metal from Australia, featuring the core creative line-up of Cain Cressall (Vocals), Erik Miehs (Guitars) and Timothy Pope (Keyboards, Samples & Effects) with Dan Quinlan (Bass) and drummer David Haley (PSYCROPTIC, ex-ABORTED, ex-PESTILENCE) rounding out the lineup. After releasing three full length albums and one EP with France’s Listenable Records (original home of GOJIRA, SOILWORK and ABORTED), THE AMENTA has returned to its DIY roots and independently prepared “REVELATOR”, the bands fourth full length album, for release.
Recorded by the band and mixed by guitarist Erik Miehs, REVELATOR is the most open, organic and crushing the band has sounded to date. Mastering has been meticulously crafted by Maor Applebaum (FAITH NO MORE, SEPULTURA, ABBATH, SABATON) further enhancing all the facets of this detailed and impeccably designed album. The album sees the band introducing new elements to the core sound of blasting, dissonant Death Metal. Combining the guitars, bass, and drums standard with circuit bent electronics, noise violin and a host of home-made percussion, the album brings elements of post-punk, noise and death-rock into a potent and harrowing album that will see the band as comfortably classed with Mastodon and Alice in Chains as with Anaal Nathrakh or Immolation. “REVELATOR” features artwork by the legendary Metastazis (PARADISE LOST, BEHEMOTH, MORBID ANGEL, ULVER). The artwork perfectly complements the band’s photography and imagery, which combines the eerie surrealism of David Lynch with the horror and intensity of Francis Bacon.
